Winemaking notes
100% whole berry fermentation (Sangiovese 100 %). Native yeasts are used. A duration of 35 days on skins. The wine spends 100 % in neutral French oak upright tanks for a time period of 10 months aged on lees.
Viticultural notes
(69%) from the Rosebud vineyard is at the same location at Wahluke Slope Vineyard and Northridge Vineyard. It has an alluvial fan gravel bed and rests above the flood plain of the Columbia River. Under the topsoil is a layer of caliche and basalt, creating calcium and iron rich soil. The remaining (31%) is sourced from Wahluke Slope just a stone’s throw away from Northridge Vineyard. Wahluke Slope vineyard is very similar to it’s neighbor. Keohler loamy fine sand over cemented silica; ancient pre-flood soi
Tasting notes
Classic cherry and darker berry fruits as well as complex wild herbs, cedar, and dried herb notes.
Pairing notes
A great compliment to strong tasting poultry dishes, spiced lamb, or even beef (as long as its not overly fatty).
