Winemaking notes
The 2019 Barbaresco Montestefano is made from Nebbiolo grapes from the Montestefano vineyard. The fermentation lasts approximately 20 days in contact with the skins. The wine undergoes a two-year aging process in barrels, followed by an additional two years of bottle refinement, resulting in a complex, well-structured wine with great aging potential.
Viticultural notes
The 2019 vintage benefited from a wet autumn and winter, followed by dry and mild conditions during early spring. Rainfall in July ensured a gradual ripening process, leading to a classic vintage. The harvest, which took place from October 6 to 10, yielded fewer but high-quality grapes. The Montestefano vineyard, planted in 1951, produced a wine with great aging potential.
Tasting notes
The wine displays a deep garnet color with bright highlights. The nose is expansive and ethereal, offering notable complexity and elegance. Aromas of small red fruits, black plum, gentian, cocoa, and licorice intertwine with delicate sweet-spicy notes. On the palate, it’s impactful, full of character, with substantial structure supported by fine tannins. The length and persistence are remarkable.
Pairing notes
Serve at 18°C to best enjoy the wine's full complexity and structure. It pairs beautifully with rich dishes like braised meats, wild game, or mature cheeses. This wine is suitable for early enjoyment but also has excellent aging potential, improving for 20-25 years. Available in 0.75 l and 1.5 l bottles.
