Mr. George Edition 3 Glen Grant 1959

Filled in 1959, this spirit from Glen Grant Distillery has been matured by Gordon & MacPhail in a first fill Sherry butt made specifically to complement the spirit. A personal favourite of Mr George, Glen Grant was built in 1840 and is famed for its smooth elegance, produced by the site’s unique stills that have an almost square section between the pot and neck, with purifiers on the lyne arms.

‘Mr George’, as he was fondly known by those who knew him best, was Mr George Urquhart, second generation of the family that owns Gordon & MacPhail. A true pioneer, Mr George was instrumental to the success of Scotch whisky, particularly single malts.

Fragrant spice aromas intertwine with sweet dried fruit and demerara sugar. Soft citrus zest comes to the fore alongside beeswax polish and walnut. Stewed red fruit flavours lead to Seville Orange with a hint of garden mint. Tart raspberry notes develop accompanied by cocoa powder and mature oak.
